Cage the Elephant has been a surprise hit for me in 2009, that is why today's song is "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" this song is infectious, as is the whole album. The song also hits me because my newborn son likes to stay up all night! Ahhh, ain't no rest!

Today's song comes from one of my favorite bands of all time, O.A.R. The song is "This Town" from the album "All Sides" Overall this is an amazing album and probably in my top 10. No matter what mood I am in, this group can get me in the right mindset. Much of their music has a very positive "Life is Good" mindset. Expect a lot more songs from this group to make my list in the future. If you get the chance to see these guys live, I highly recommend it. They have jam band tendencies, but they never seem to take it too far.

Today's song is "Armistace" from Mute Math which comes off their sophomore album of the same name. These guys don't have too much exposure with the exception of being on the Twilight soundtrack. I happened by them a few years ago on iTunes and have been a Dan ever since. They also broke the curse by having their second album come off stronger than their first. Give them a listen! I chose this track because it has 2 of my 3 traits I use to judge a perfect song. 1: handclaps. 2: hornline. All it is missing is a massive choir doing backup vocals. Enjoy!

Today's song is "Guitar" by Prince from his album "Planet Earth." I choose this because it fits today's mood. There are few better or more appropriate songs for me on a band rehearsal day. I love when Prince showcases his guitar skills! Turn it up!

Today's song is "Ziggy Stardust" by the one and only David Bowie. Why, because Bowie is awesome... In that 70's glam kinda way. In fact, the entire album "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" is pretty catchy once you get used to his style. If you ever doubt Bowie's influence, just listen to the Killers' "Day and Age" It is overall a great song and I personally love playing it with members of my band. Calling Major Tom!

Friday is here, and that means the weekend is upon us. That means party music! That means today's song is "Nothin' But a Good Time" by Poison! No one will ever accuse the Poison boys of being manly, but we can accuse them of writing shamefully awesome Hair Metal party anthems. Here's to ya!

Today's song is "Call to Arms" This song comes from Tom DeLonge's side project, Angels and Airwaves and is the opening track for the album "I-Empire" Not only is it a great song, but it is a great motivator. Check these guys out, they are a definite departure from Tom's Blink 182 sound.

Yesterday I started a "Song of the Day" entry on Facebook and Twitter. I thought I would revamp my blog to match. So... Yesterday's song was "Weapon of Choice" by the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
