Wow, I really took a bit of a break, didn't I? Well I must admit things were a bit crazy. There was the band and then company downsizing...which I actually came though though I was in limbo for about a month, and then there was Turkey. Yes, I know I capitalized it. Actually that sums up the past month pretty well. Also, I am obviously not good at keeping a song of the day, so perhaps we will shoot for song of the week?
This week it is "Rockabilly Christmas" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. That will get you in the spirit. I also picked this because I have spent the last few nights working out fingering progressions for various jazz chords as well as working on blues scales and a few, very few, rockabilly riffs. Jazz chords are tricky!

SONG OF THE DAY OCT 19TH
Sorry it has been a few days, we have had some family in town. Also, last night's Graveyard Stompers gig was amazing! We had one of those nights when everyone was just on and we all knew it! So now for today's song. I am going with Ghostbusters. Why? well because we played it twice last night and had only learned it in soundcheck. I am still amazed we pulled that off so well!

SONG OF THE DAY - OCT 8TH
Sorry, been bad about this. Today I chose a fairly new song that has seemed to stick in my head.
"Crawl" by Kings of Leon is an amazingly soulful rocker. The beat is great. Check it out. The only thing about this song is that it is from the Kings of Leon so it depends on whether or not you can stand the singer's voice. I think it works for this song.

THE GRAVEYARD STOMPERS SHOW

Just wanted to say that our first big gig at the Children's Museum in Indianapolis went very well. I'd say we brought the house down. The best part is that we were already asked back for next year! Now comes the focus of the next 3 weeks where we will be playing The Asylum House. My wife (who does photography on the side) is going to hopefully be taking some band photos! I'm in the Orange shirt.
High Fidelity
I know it is a crime, but I had never seen High Fidelity. Last week I remedied the situation and rented it on demand. I recommend this to anyone! Well correction, I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of rock music. If you happen to be a big music geek such as myself, the artist references are great! Funny thing, before I even watched it, I called that it would have a Velvet Underground reference…and I was right!

SONG OF THE DAY - 0CT 2nd
Today I choose "I Got You (at the end of the century)" by Wilco from the album "Being There."
Why? Well, how about the obvious Cubs reference...that and the song rocks!

Please Cubs, please!!!

Last night was rough. Last night made me want to drink heavily. Poor Cubs. I like Dempster, I really do, but damn. Ok, I have faith. I will have faith throughout. Let us all hope Big Z shows up. I think he can. Let us hope that Soriano, Lee, Edmonds and Fukadome come out with bats blazing!
By the way, thank you De Rosa. Yesterday Mark De Rosa showed up and he rocked. Go Cubs!
